Jerry Casados, NTP, Plant-Based Nutrition Certified. Jerry received his Nutrition Therapy Practitioner (NTP) certification from Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, Colorado, one of the nation’s leading private nutrition schools.
He also attained a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University and The T. Colin Campbell Foundation.
He is always continuing to further his education in plant-based nutrition by attending seminars and symposiums given by some of foremost experts and pioneers on plant-based nutrition in the United States, experts such as John A. McDougall, MD, T. Colin Campbell, PHD, Neil Barnard, MD, Pam Popper, ND, Dr. Dean Ornish, Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., M.D. and others. They all have had a major influence on him and he will apply this knowledge to his practice.
Jerry has experienced how changing to a plant-based diet and lifestyle can affect your overall health. Jerry attended the McDougall 10-day Live-In Program at the McDougall Health and Medical Center in Santa Rosa, CA (in June 2007) to find an alternative (dietary/lifestyle approach) to standard medical practices for the treatment of his heart disease. He was on a statin for his high cholesterol and three different medications for his high blood pressure. Dr. McDougall uses ‘Food Therapy (first) versus Drug Therapy’ as the solution. Jerry experienced the results of thousands of others who attend and/or follow a whole food, plant-based diet: medication free and achieving optimal health, vitality and a feeling of well-being. In the 10 days, he was educated by Dr. McDougall about basic nutrition, plant-based nutrition, chronic diseases, current medical research; while receiving medical advice/diagnosis of Dr. McDougall. He says “Dr. McDougall and his program was a life changing experience that allowed me to take control of my health for the better with a plant-based diet and without any medications”.
Also, during The McDougall Program he saw other attendees health improve, type-2 diabetics’ blood sugar levels were normal within a few days and some were completely off medications, arthritis patients were pain free, the average reduction in blood cholesterol was 15% in one week and everyone experienced average weight loss of 3-5 pounds, the results were remarkable in just ten days.
It is about the food and the healing power it provides when you eat nutrient dense plant-based food. After this life changing experience and his new found health he became passionate about health and nutrition so he made the career change to nutrition after 35+ years as an IT Professional in software and database development. He wants to share his passion with others so they can achieve optimal health for a lifetime!
